Gardai are appealing for information following a serious assault in Granard overnight.
A man is in hospital following the incidents in the Granada View area of the town.
Gardai say the man was seriously assaulted with an implement at a house in Granada View shortly after 2am this morning.
He is currently in Mullingar Hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition.
Officers are following a definite line of enquiry but are appealing for information following the attack.
They are asking anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Granada View and who may have video footage, including dashcam footage of the area to make contact with them.
No arrests have been made to date.
Gardaí are also appealing to anyone who may have footage or who may have been in the vicinity of Main Street, Granard or Ballyjamesduff between 2am and 2.30am to also make contact to Granard Garda Station on 043-6687660 or alternatively the Confidential Phone Line on 1800 666111.
