The man being held on suspicion of the murder of Tina Satchwell is due to be charged or released in the coming hours.
The man in his 50s is being questioned at Cobh Garda Station after being arrested yesterday morning.
The remains found at the house on Gratton Street in Youghal were today confirmed as those of Tina Satchwell.
The 45-year-old had not been seen in over six and a half years after being reported missing in March 2017.
Gardai upgraded the missing persons investigation to a murder inquiry earlier this week, however they have not yet said what led them to carry out a major search of the house on Gratton Street.
Gardai have 24 hours excluding breaks to question the man arrested and it’s expected he will be charged or released in the coming hours.
