Man to appear in court over Athlone Aggravated Burglary

A man is set to appear in court this afternoon in connection with an aggravated burglary in Athlone earlier this month.

On the evening of the 8th of September, a man in his 80s and a woman in her 70s were assaulted after two men entered their premises at Carton Drive in the town.

A sum of was money taken in the incident, and the man received medical treatment at the scene.

A man in his late teens is appearing at Mullingar District Court today charged in connection with the incident.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with any information surrounding the incident to come forward.
