Gardai in Mullingar have confirmed that a man who was found dead at his home near Kinnegad earlier this week was violently assaulted.
Detectives are continuing to examine all the circumstances surrounding the death of 65-year-old Stefan Nivelles Posschier in Rattin near Kinnegad. An incident room has been established at Mullingar Garda station following the discovery of the body of the well-known psychic an on Tuesday evening.
Shortly after 6pm on Tuesday last Gardaí discovered his body outside of his property.
A post-mortem examination was conducted yesterday on his remains and while the results are not being released for operational reasons, gardaí have confirmed he was violently assaulted and died as a result of his injuries.
The investigation is being by a Senior Officer and a Family Liaison Officer has been appointed and continues to keep the family informed of the investigation.
No arrests have been made at this time. Investigating Gardaí at Mullingar have also issued a special appeal to any person that met with or saw Stefan or interacted with him on social media on the days prior to the discovery of his body on Tuesday afternoon to contact them at 044 9384000.
