The body of a man has been recovered from the River Shannon in Leitrim following a search this afternoon.
The alarm was raised on Sunday afternoon after the man, believed to be a visitor to Carrick On Shannon, had reportedly entered the water.
Searches immediately got underway and a body of a man in his 40s was taken from the water this evening.
Gardaí are treating the man’s death as a tragic accident.
His body has been removed to the mortuary at Sligo General Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner.
