The body of a man has been recovered from the water at Carrick-on-Shannon today.
Gardai have confirmed that following a search and recovery operation in Carrick-on-Shannon, the body of a man was recovered from the water this morning.
His body has been taken to Sligo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
A file will be prepared for the Coroner.
A search had been ongoing since Christmas.
It had involved divers and members of sub-aqua clubs from Carrick, Roscommon, Lough Ree, Longford, Athlone, Offaly, Ballina, Newport, Drogheda, and Dublin, as well as local residents.
