A number of meetings are due to be held to decide the future of four churches in Leitrim.
Fr Johnny Cusack, priest in the parishes of Oughteragh and Lower Drumreilly, will retire from his role this June.
This leaves Fr Seán Mawn in control of the four churches in Aughnasheelin, Aughawillan, Ballinamore, and Coraleehan.
Meetings are due to be held with parishioners to decide a plan moving forward.
Fr Mawn says that community discussion will help find the best way to cater to the spiritual needs of the people.
"At the moment there doesn't seem to be any great possibility of us being able to have another priest minister here. One of the things which has been very much in evidence over the years is what we call synodality, where we are working together as a people, we discuss together, walk together, and together we will find the best ways we can move forward as a parish community".
The meetings will be held next week at 8pm in Aughnasheelin community hall on Monday, Aughawillan community hall on Tuesday, and Corraleehan Church on Wednesday.
The final meeting takes place in Ballinamore Island Theatre on Monday the 30th at 8pm
