MEP Colm Markey will visit Lough Funshinagh this afternoon to meet with some local residents and landowners.
The Fine Gael politican has been working with locla councillor Laurence Fallon for the past couple of years in an effort to find a resultion to the flooding threat and ecological damage caused by the rising waters on the lake.
He will be talking to the residents and landowners as part of efforts to make a case with the EU on what can be done to alleviate the flooding threat and the ecological damage being caused as a result of the constant waterlogging on the land.
Efforts by Roscommon Council to construct an overflow pipe to take water from the area were halted by legal action in the last couple of years.
