Hazardous weather conditions are continuing to impact people in many areas with a combination of rain, sleet, snow and ice.

It comes as blustery winds and heavy showers have been suggesting that a possible storm will hit Ireland as we head into the new year.

A status yellow wind warning will be in place for Leitrim and seven other coastal counties.

Met Éireann says minimum temperatures will be around minus 3 degrees with sharp to severe frost forming.

It comes as thousands have been impacted by the storm locally, with strong gusts of wind posing a risk to lives across the region.

Met Eireann is warning of severe flooding, damage to homes & businesses and dangerous/treacherous travelling conditions from midnight tonight.

It begins at 6pm and runs until 10am tomorrow morning.
