Met Eireann has issued a status yellow weather alert for counties in the Shannonside region this weekend as the first named storm of the season is approaching. Storm Ashley will bear down on Sunday.
The warning comes into effect from 10am on Sunday until midnight with the rest of the country included in the alert. Mayo and Galway have been issued with an orange alert from 12pm to 9pm on Sunday.
Speaking to the Joe Finnegan Show, Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel says the storm could last up to 36 hours starting from Saturday night:
