An orange rain and wind warning is now in effect for Cork, Kerry and Waterford, while an orange wind warning is also in effect for Tipperary, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow until 5pm.
There's also a yellow rain warning in place for Carlow, Dublin, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow, as well as a yellow wind warning for Leinster, Munster and Galway.
Intense rain is causing significant travel disruption and road users are asked to use extreme caution due to spot flooding and surface water.
