A leading meteorologist says it is 'disgraceful' that a Status Red warning was not issued to the Midlands during Storm Darragh.
It comes as thousands have been impacted by the storm locally, with strong gusts of wind posing a risk to lives across the region.
As of now, close to 10,000 people across the Shannonside region are still affected by power cuts, while Uisce Éireann is working to restore water supplies in South Leitrim and Longford.
Speaking to Shannonside News, Cathal Nolan from Ireland's Weather Channel said Met Éireann should move from a 'metric' to an 'impact' based alert system:
