A special commemoration event is taking place in Granard this afternoon to remember the life of Michael Collins.
The centenary of his death is the 22nd of August and today's event is being hosted by the Knights and Conquests Heritage Centre.
The original handwritten letters exchanged between local woman Kitty Kiernan and Collins will be on display at the centre today thanks to the generosity of Cork County Museum.
A gold watch given to Kitty as an engagement present by Collins will also be on display.
Manager of the Knights and Conquests Centre Deirdre Orme says a lot of different groups have come together to celebrate the day and they're also delighted to have the Ford Model T that Collins would have travelled in locally.
The commemorative event takes place today from 1.45 to 5pm.
