A new mini-documentary focusing on at the capture of Longford revolutionary Seán MacEoin by British forces in Mullingar has been launched.
The production, which is over 12 minutes is a dramatic reconstruction of the events of March 1921, when crown forces identified and apprehended the Ballinalee native at Mullingar railway station while returning from Dublin.
The film captures a dramatic escape attempt which ended with MacEoin being shot and captured.
Dr Paul Hughes wrote and presented the film as part of his role as Historian in Residence for the Decade of Centenaries at Westmeath County Council.
