Farmers across the Shannonside region are being invited to a meeting with the Minister for Agriculture next week
Minister Charlie McConalogue will attend a meeting on farming in the Cornmill Theatre in Carrick On Shannon on Tuesday the 31st.
The meeting is free to attend with capacity for 180 attendees.
Leitrim Councillor, Paddy O'Rourke, says there are a number of issues, including the new forestry deal, that will be discussed with the Minister
"There's very considerable anger a lot of affairs of Coilte in so far as they sometimes don't be very accommodating, they sort of make demands that local farmers can't meet and that's not a very pleasant way of doing business when you're trying to gain the goodwill of the people. There are are a lot of other issues that we have to bring to his attention, some of them will already be on his desk but there are a lot of people who have issues with various schemes and such and for that reason we organised the meeting".
