The Minister for Employment and Retailers will meet with businesses in Longford Town today.
Junior Minister in the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment. Neale Richmond, is in the county town for a number of engagements.
The Fine Gael Minister met with Councillors and Local Enterprise Office Staff at Aras an Chontae this morning.
He's due to visit local retailers on Main Street shortly to meet with a number of business people from across the county.
Minister Richmond is also due to travel to Leitrim and Roscommon tomorrow to visit the former MBNA offices in Carrick on Shannon, the Drumshambo Food Hub and Studio Meala in Boyle.
Local Senator Micheál Carrigy hopes the meeting will show the Minister the growing strength of the county when it comes to supporting new businesses:
"We're meeting a number of businesses here today, not just from the town itself, but we have Harp Media, two young lads from Granard who are on the national stage.We've Lough Ree Distillery and others so these are companies and small companies that have started here in Longford with the support of the Local Enterprise and Longford County Council to get themselves off the ground. We've been very good here in Longford in getting start-up businesses, supporting them, and creating employment in Longford and that's what we want to see. We want to see young people being able to get a job in Longford, stay in Longford, live in Longford, and start their family in Longford".
