The Social Protection and Community Development Minister is quitting politics after the forthcoming general election.

Outgoing Minister Heather Humphreys has been praised in the Seanad for her investment in Co Roscommon and east Galway. The Social Protection and Community Development Minister is quitting politics after the forthcoming general election.

The Cavan-Monaghan TD feels that, at 64 years of age, she doesn't have enough energy for another five-year term in the Dáil. Her Fine Gael colleague, Senator Aisling Dolan, says she contributed a lot to the Shannonside region:
