The Longford Skate Park has been officially opened this afternoon.
The purpose built amenity was constructed at the former Greyhound Track in Longford earlier this year following a 12 year campaign.
Following the council purchase of the site, members of the Longford Skate Park Committee and local representatives pushed for the creation of a state of the art skate park.
Following construction completing in November last year, the gates unofficially opened, with huge numbers of children, teens and young adults using the infrastructure each day.
Minister for Rural Development Heather Humphreys officially cut the ribbon this afternoon.
Skate Park Committee Member Daniel Keogh told Shannonside FM News that the park has brought communities together.
