Minister of State Jack Chambers will meet public representatives this week to discuss the future of Roscommon Post Office. An Post recently announced that the county town postal service will now be run by a contractor and most likely move from its current location on The Square. This news has been met with anger locally and public representatives have vowed to maintain the service at its landmark premises.
The Minister of State will meet with local Oireachtas members and county councillors this Friday evening in Roscommon. It comes as an online petition, set up by Cllr Nigel Dineen to oppose the closure, has reached almost 1,000 signatures.
