A minute's silence was observed in the Roscommon Council chamber yesterday for former mayor Martin Connaughton.
Mr Connaughton passed away suddenly on his farm on Monday last at the age of 80.
The Athleague native was laid to rest following funeral mass in Athleague last Thursday.

Cathaoirleach of Roscommon County Council John Keogh led tributes to the former mayor at this month's meeting of the local authority.
