A new structure has been unveiled in Roscommon town in recent weeks following the completion of Public Realm Enhancement works. The concrete and timber covered space on the Square was phase two of the regeneration of Roscommon town. The project received €9.2 million in match funding from the Urban Regeneration and Development Fund in 2022. The latest addition to the county town has however been met with a mixed reaction from members of the public.
Designed by GKMP Architects in Dublin, the new structure features a copper and glazed roof and is designed to be a focal point for people to meet. The project also included further works to uncover and enhance a historic well on the southern part of the Square.
