The Mote Park Conservation Group in Roscommon is calling for more broadleafs to be planted following clear felling at one section of the amenity in recent days.
The group believes a plan by Coillte to replant the hill with 95% conifer and 5% broadleaf contradicts sustainable forest management.
Spokesperson Eilish Feeley says it would make more sense to see a mix of beech and oak reminiscent of the old demesne woodland that was once on the hill.
The group say they hope to meet with Coillte over two other sites at the avenue and Derrydonnell Wood.
Speaking to Shannonside FM Eilish says this must be managed now for the future.
'95% conifer and 5% broadleaf on the site and it is our view that it doe not take into consideration the landscape of the old woodland site.
This particular site needs to be manged for the future.'
