A young musician from the Shannonside Northern Sound region has made the national shortlist in the search of a new Local Music Hero. The unique award has been created as part of Irish Music Month and celebrates Irish musicians across the country.
Mia Black, a student from Castleblayney in Monaghan, was recently crowned the Shannonside Northern Sound Local Hero. She's now been selected as one of the final six to contest the national competition. She'll perform in the Grand Finale at The Academy in Dublin on Tuesday, October 15th, for the chance be crowned Ireland's New Local Hero 2024. Irish Music Month is an initiative of Hot Press and Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, funded by Coimisiún na Meán, under its Sound & Vision scheme.
