The Granard M.D has been awarded an additional three-hundred-thousand euro to compete road works this year.
However, the local authority has been warned that it only has until the beginning of December to have the money spent or else it will be withdrawn.
The announcement was made at the September meeting of the Granard M.D by engineer David Coppinger and he explained that a number of L-I-S schemes were also set to be completed by the end of October
Councillor Paraic Brady urged the Council to write to the government to ask for an extension on the timeframe to spend the money as he claimed the window of opportunity was too short by the time a contractor would be appointed and works would begin.
