The harvesting of peat stopped in 2020.

An ecologist with Bord Na Mona says he expects more peatland in Longford and Roscommon will be rehabilitated soon after peat stocks are cleared.

Mark McCorry was speaking following figures released this week which showed just over 10,000 acres have been rewetted across Offaly and Galway in the last year.

The figures for Longford and Roscommon show just over 2,000 acres rehabilitated there in the last twelve months.
