An additional 150 people in the local region claimed anti-depressants medication last year than in 2019 according to new figures from the HSE.
The most recent meeting of the Health Forum West revealed that Roscommon recorded the highest increase locally among people with medical cards claiming for medication to assist their mental health issues last year.
The Sligo Leitrim-West Cavan area recorded an increase in 56 people who claimed specific medication to combat depression in 2020 compared to twelve months previous with 60 people in Roscommon claiming for ant depressants last year compared to 2019.
865 extra medical cards were provided to adults in the Sligo-Leitrim West Cavan area, while in Roscommon, the figure was also up by 658.
