More women running businesses across the region says local entrepreneur group

The co-ordinator of a local female entrepreneur programme says women in business is on the rise across the region.

Sandra Divilly manager of the Empower initiative for Roscommon and Leitrim believes a move to remote working has facilitated this increase.

The programme was set up in 2017 alongside the GMIT innovation hub and recorded a 150 percent increase in applicants in 2020.

Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound Sandra believes the programme is fast tracking female entrepreneurship in the Northwest.
