Mote Park Conservation Group in Roscommon is calling on Coillte to carry out remedial works on Mote Park Avenue after trees were felled and branches pulled down by a digger this week.
The group says Mote Park Avenue which used to lead to Mote Park house was agreed by Coillte to be an area of conservation some years ago and that tree surgeons would be brought in to carry out any works there.
Spokesperson Eilish Feely says they were horrified to see that a digger and a grab was brought in on Monday to carry out works on the avenue in advance of a car park development at the Ballymurray end of the amenity.
She says they want Coillte to honour their promise of properly conserving the trees on the avenue.
