An expectant mother from the Shannonside Northern Sound region is calling on the government to progress the situation regarding partners being allowed into maternity hospitals during pregnancy and labour.
Charlotte Fox from Rooskey is due to give birth at the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar in December and so far has attending all appointments on her own, describing it as an overwhelming and lonely experience.
She says it's confusing how partners are not allowed in hospital rooms from the beginning of labour but will have to enter the hospital ward for the final hour.
Charlotte is calling for officials to look at the situation as it's causing a lot of stress and anxiety especially if a complication arises.
