Motorist caught drug driving and speeding near Longford primary school

Gardaí have caught a motorist speeding near a primary school in Longford.

The car was found to be travelling at 96km per hour in a 50km per hour zone.

The motorist was stopped near Ballimacormack Cemetery, and tested positive for cannabis and benzodiazepine.

The female driver was arrested and court proceedings are to follow.

According to figures released to Aontú, over 1 and a half thousand people have already appeared in court for testing positive for drugs while driving in the first half of 2023.
