A motorist has been caught speeding by over double the limit in Carrick-on-Shannon.
The driver was caught driving 124kph in a 60kph zone on the N4 in Drishoge.
It comes as An Garda Síochána carry out a dedicated road traffic enforcement operation throughout the Christmas period.

During the second week of the operation, there were three fatalities on our roads, as well as 13 serious collisions that resulted in a number of people receiving serious and life-threatening injuries.
Gardaí are urging motorists to practice safe driving and to always comply with speed limits.
