A Longford man has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of another man in Newtownforbes in 2018.
At a sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court today, the man pleaded guilty to a charge of dangerous driving causing the death of 32-year-old Craig McDermott.
The collision took place on the N4 at Deerpark, close to Newtownforbes in Co Longford on June 18th 2018 at 11.45 pm.
The accused, who originally failed to remain at the scene, later handed himself into Gardaí following the incident.
Appearing before Judge Keenan Johnson at today's sitting of Longford Criminal Circuit Court, he pleaded guilty to one count of dangerous driving causing death.
Mr McDonagh has been remanded on bail for sentencing on October 5th, with a probation report and victim impact statement to be prepared for the court.
The victim's mother also attended court today, where Judge Johnson extended the court's sympathy to her and her family on the tragic loss of her son.
