Gardaí have caught a number of motorists exceeding speed limits in Co. Roscommon. Roscommon Roads Policing were conducting speed checks in Elphin and caught a motorist driving double the speed limit at 104km/h in a 50km/h zone in rain.
Separately on National Slow Down Day, a driver was caught going 73km/h in a 60 zone on the R293 in Ballaghaderreen. Speeding remains one of the leading causes of road traffic collisions and Gardaí are reminding all motorists to drive with care.
