Temperatures dipped as low as minus 7 degrees Celsius in parts of the midlands overnight.
Mount Dillon in Roscommon is still recording a temperature of -7 degrees celcius at 9am this morning, while the next coldest in Ballyhaise in Cavan is showing a -6 reading.
