A British MP says an Afghan family who escaped Kabul are settling in well in County Roscommon.
The Nasari family who were in danger from the Taliban fled the country in August of last year.
An Irish friend sought assistance from Alliance Party MP Stephen Farry who in turn worked with the Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney to bring the family to Ballaghadereen.
The Northern Ireland politician visited Roscommon yesterday and met with the Nasaris, he says while it's been a huge cultural shock for them, they are doing well and hope to get involved in the local
community.
MP Farry says children from the group are already attending local schools and are receiving the support they need following their frightening experience in Afghanistan.
