Much-loved Athlone fruit and veg store to close after 36 years

A popular family-run business in Athlone is closing down after almost four decades.

Behan's fruit and veg in Irishtown has announced it will shut permanently on Saturday week, after serving the area for 36 years.

It has been run by Philip and Betty Behan and their daughter, Sharon.

Sharon says a change in shopping culture is part of the reason why it's closing down.

Sharon says she will miss a lot of the regular customers who come into the shop regularly.
