Tributes are being paid to the outgoing Bishop of Achonry ahead of his final Mass in Ballaghaderreen this morning.
Paul Dempsey will become an Auxiliary Bishop of Dublin on May 26th, after serving in Achonry for the past four years.
The dioceses of Achonry and Elphin are to merge, with the Bishop of Elphin, Kevin Doran, appointed Apostolic Administrator of Achonry.
Bishop Dempsey will celebrate his final Mass in St Nathy's Cathedral in Ballaghaderreen this morning (Sunday) at 10 o'clock.
Local elections candidate, Micheál Frain, says he will be sorely missed in the town.
