The Regional Hospital in Mullingar is in escalation today due to a surge in patients at its Emergency Department.
In a statement issued this morning, the hospital says teams are working to manage the current Adult In-Patient and Covid-19 Bed Capacity together with Scheduled Care.
They are asking patients to consider their options before attending the Emergency Department and are warning that if someone does come to the ED and is not triaged as seriously ill, they may need to wait for a long period to be seen.
However, Adult Patients who require urgent care will be prioritised.
According to the INMO's Trolleywatch, 23 people are waiting at the ED this morning with 34 at Sligo University Hospital on trolleys or chairs and 15 at Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe.
