Over twenty people are waiting for a bed at the Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar this morning.
Hospital management is asking the public to stay away if possible as they deal with a number of non-Covid-19 patients presenting with a series of complex illnesses
The hospital is asking people to attend their GP or pharmacist if possible, and to only attend the hospital ED if absolutely necessary and to not bring children, if at all possible.
The hospital is the second most overcrowded in the country today, with only University hospital limerick and its 37 patients busier at present.
There are 17 people at University Hospital Sligo today waiting for treatment at the emergency department, and 11 at University Hospital Galway.
