Members of the public are being advised to stay away from Mullingar hospital if possible as it continues to be extremely busy.
A statement issued yesterday evening, and again this morning, is warning that the hospital is seeing a lot of seriously ill patients, many of whom are over 75 years of age.
People are being warned of long wait times and are being asked not to present at the hospital unless absolutely necessary.
Anyone who is seriously injured or ill will be treated as a priority.
The INMO trolleywatch figures reported 28 people on trolleys at Mullingar this morning.
There were 18 people waiting for admission to Sligo, 24 in University Hospital Galway, 12 in Tullamore, 5 in Cavan and 7 at Our Lady Of Lourdes in Drogheda.
