The Midlands Regional Hospital in Mullingar has updated its maternity unit visiting arrangements for pregnant women and their partners.
New guidelines were due to come into effect in all maternity units on Monday to allow open access for partners from 8am until 9pm each day.
However, it is understood that due to a number of factors, the Mullingar hospital was not able to update its arrangements that limited partners access to maternity suits and visiting times.
The hospital has now reverted back to its 'pre-Covid' admission policy for visitors.
This morning management at Mullingar have confirmed that nominated partners may visit daily in the Ante-Natal and Post-Natal ward between 10:00am and 1:00pm and 5pm and 8pm.
The rest period for mothers will continue to be in place from 1:00pm to 5:00pm.
A nominated support partner can be with the mother through labour, birth or caesarean section.
Partners can also attend the 12 and 20 week scans.
