Two Westmeath Schools have been approved for major investments from the Department of Education.
Minister Norma Foley has announced a 250 million euro investment into school building projects.
St. Finian's College in Mullingar is to receive funding for the refurbishment and extension of the school to support up to 1,300 students.
Separately in the Midlands town, St. Mary's School will be supported to construct a new 8 classroom building.
The new school buildings will be equipped with renewable energy systems such as heat pump technologies for heating and solar panels, ensuring they are future-proofed from a climate perspective.
Other projects included in the funding consist of special class facilities to support the integration and inclusion of students with special educational needs in their local communities.
