Local MEP Ciaran Mullooly has confirmed he will be joining the Renew Group in the European Parliament. Mullooly alongside Independent MEP Michael McNamara and the four Fianna Fáil MEP's are the Irish representatives in the group.
Sandro Gozi who is a prominent member of the European Democratic Party said Mullooly's decision to join has been met with unanimous support from all members of the party. Speaking to Shannonside FM News, MEP Mullooly said he took advice from former MEP and current Sligo-Leitrim TD Marian Harkin:
