Ballyleague/Lanesboro man Ciaran Mullooly has extended his lead over Sinn Fein’s Michelle Gildernew by almost 2,500 votes after benefiting significantly from transfers from Hermann Kelly, from the Irish Freedom Party.
He got 3,021 votes in the 14th count, while Gildernew got only 567.
Mullooly, from Independent Ireland, leads Gildernew by almost 15,500 votes in the battle for the fifth and final seat.
Luke ‘Ming’ Flanagan remains in poll position, on almost 90,000, almost 11,000 ahead of second-placed Nina Carberry.
Her Fine Gael colleague, Maria Walsh, is close behind, while Fianna Fáil TD Barry Cowan is on course for a seat also.
The only question mark is over the last seat – Mullooly or Gildernew.
