The Roscommon-Galway constituency shouldn't have two Galway-based TDs as the majority of it is made up of County Roscommon. That's according to Independent candidate Eugene Murphy, who was speaking after it became clear he wouldn't be elected.
The former Fianna Fáil man, however, said it was the choice of the people and that he was sure those elected would address the issues in the county. Speaking to Shannonside Northern Sound, he said the likelihood of having two Galway candidates was something he highlighted before counting began:
