A route for the proposed Carrick-Dromod N4 road improvements scheme is not expected to be published until early 2022.
The October meeting of the Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District heard that there had been an 'unprecedented level of engagement' in the public consultation process on plans to upgrade the national route.
A senior Council official confirmed that over 2,300 submissions had been made on the project, with 200 virtual meetings held between the design team and the public.
It was initially hoped that a preferred solution for the route would be made available late this year, but it has now been confirmed that it will be at least early 2022 before any further details are revealed.
