The N55 has re-opened after a serious road crash earlier this morning just outside Athlone.
A van and a car were in a collision just before 10am, around 2km from Ballykieran village.
Emergency services rushed to the scene and the road was closed between Glasson and the Dog and Duck pub for over two hours.

Two people, believed to be the drivers of both vehicles, were treated for their injuries at the scene but it is not thought they were seriously hurt.
Westmeath County Council also carried out a cleaning operation following what is believed to have been an oil spill, and the two vehicles have since been removed from the scene.
