The names of all the Stardust victims have been read out at the beginning of a pre-inquest into their deaths in a fire in Artane, Dublin, in 1981.
A minute's silence was also held at the Coronor's Court for the 48 young people who died at the Valentines disco almost 40 years ago.
After years of campaigning by the victim's families to find out how the tragedy happened, a fresh inquest into the fire was ordered last year by the then Attorney General Seamus Woulfe.
He found the findings of the original inquest made no references to the causes of the fire and there was insufficient inquiry into how the deaths happened.
Senior Coronor Dr Myra Cullinane told the court today that the new inquests will not be bound by these findings or any prior investigation or tribunal.
Families who were following the proceedings remotely due to covid-19 restrictions were told these will be entirely new coroners enquiries.
Dr. Cullinane also repeated call for any eye witness to the 1981 tragedy to come forward.
The full inquests are due to get underway next year.
