A charity concert in Castlerea Prison last night raised almost 7,000 euro for three local charities. Over 300 staff and invited guests attended the Nathan Carter gig - and inmates can watch a recording on their prisoner TV channel from today.
The Irish Prison Service says the concert raised 6,760 euro for the paediatric ward in Sligo University Hospital, Roscommon Youth Services and Mayo Roscommon Hospice. Castlerea prison governor Theresa Beirne says it was a unique event:
