One of the Shannonside region's newest tourist attractions will be officially opened by the Minister for Culture and Arts today.
Catherine Martin will cut the ribbon at the National Famine Museum in Strokestown this afternoon, months after it opened to visitors.
The museum, in the grounds of Strokestown Park House, received a five million euro upgrade with works completed in the spring.
The museum is run in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, the Irish heritage trust and house owners Westward Holdings.
The opening is due to take place at 3pm.
